Solution Focused Therapy

In Solution Focused Therapy (SFBT) the focus is on the positive - on what clients already have going for them and on what actions they used in the past that have worked for them. It is a strengths-based approach to working with clients and their families. While problems are discussed and considered in SFBT, most of the time and energy is spent on discussing, thinking about, and researching what is already good, effective, and successful. The SFBT focuses on “life without the problem” rather than a detailed analysis of the problem itself. It aims to help people define specific goals and create practical strategies for achieving them.
